SCIFL Labor Day Parade (lineup will begin at 8:00am) In Des Moines

Sisters and Brothers,

Please join us on Monday, September 2, 2024, for our annual SCIFL Labor Day Parade
(lineup will begin at 8:00am). The parade kicks off at 11:00am. All Iowa Federation of
Labor Affiliated Union members and their families are encouraged to participate. We ask
that you park at the fairgrounds, where buses will be available to transport you to the
Capitol before the parade.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should go to the corner of E. 12th and E.
Grand to receive a number, please keep in mind this is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Numbers will not be distributed before September 2, 2024.

Due to ongoing construction at the Lucas Building parking lot (15), the parade lineup will
be slightly altered. Please see the enclosed map for details for invited guests and
affiliates. SCIFL Committee members will be available for guidance.

As a reminder, this parade celebrates American labor and Unions that help build
American-made products. All vehicles participating in the parade must be American-
made with no exceptions.

There will be a Labor Day Festival at the park immediately following the parade at the
Union Labor Park (4340 NW Morningstar Dr.). Please join us for food and entertainment
suitable for all ages.

WE ENCOURAGE ALL PARADE ATTENDEED TO PARK AT THE STATE
FAIRGROUNDS AND RIDE THE SHUTTLE BUS TO THE CAPITOL GROUNDS.
The staging location for this year's 2024 Labor Day Parade will be altered
slightly due to ongoing construction at the Lucas building parking lot (15).
Therefore, all groups that typically assemble there will instead gather at
parking lot 16, located at the intersection of Des Moines Street and E. Grand.
Once the parade begins, participants are instructed to exit onto Des Moines
Street and proceed west toward E 12th Street to join the parade procession.
